In 1965, John W. and Myrtis Coleman created Kiddie Land Day Care with the dream of providing children in the West End an affordable, quality education. Almost 50 years later, Kiddie Land Day Care has done exactly that, with the same dedicated staff, and parents/grandparents who insist on bringing new generations of their families to our day care center.
OUR MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY
Kiddie Land’s mission is to lift up and nurture children of the West End and its surrounding areas. We believe in providing a safe environment for learning and playing; providing nutritional meals prepared with love; and most of all, instilling our children with manners, integrity and a strong sense of well-being. Families are considered an integral part of our program. Daily communication and collaboration between families and teachers is stressed.
Our philosophy: We believe an organized and positive foundation is crucial for a child’s success in life.
OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM
The best atmosphere for learning is one of acceptance, mutual respect, fairness, consistency, clear limits and expectations, and encouragement. A predictable, organized environment, with clear expectations, and appropriate consequences supports the whole child. Our private, outdoor playground is an extension of the classroom, with the same level of supervision and involvement.
Our early childhood care program provides a consistent routine and curriculum that focuses on social behavior, motor skills, language expression, science, and the arts.
Children in the afterschool program (up to 7 years of age) receive homework tutoring for reading/mathmatics,
arts & crafts, snacks, playground free time, and mentoring their younger peers.

- There is a registered nurse on staff part time.
- Healthy, home cooked breakfast, lunch, and snacks every day.
- Peanut, Nut-free facility.
- We have an ‘open door’ policy: parents are welcome to visit at any time and are encouraged to participate in activities. Stop by and have breakfast, lunch, or snack on us!
- We are experts in potty training and in teaching proper hygiene.
- Kiddie Land Day Care is a member of the Better Business Bureau in good standing.
- Payment plans and all major credit cards are accepted.
- As a service to families in our neighborhood, Kiddie Land Day Care Center is available for school bus pickup/drop-off and is a designated “safe-place” for the community children.
- The school bus stop in front of Kiddie Land is always monitored by our staff. We are committed to reaching out to our community.
- The center’s enrollment capacity is 39 children.
